Transforming Our Community Through Music and Innovation

At L’Avventura London, we believe that music is more than an art form – it is a catalyst for learning, connection, and social change. Through our pioneering outreach and education initiatives, we are broadening access to historically informed performance, nurturing emerging talent, and exploring the profound ways in which music shapes the human mind and experience.

London Community Baroque Orchestra : Our Flagship Educational Programme

The London Community Baroque Orchestra (LCBO) is L’Avventura London’s flagship community and education initiative, bringing together musicians from across the city in a shared exploration of historical performance.

Open to amateur players of all ages and backgrounds, the LCBO offers a welcoming and inclusive environment where curiosity, creativity, and musical discovery are at the heart of the experience. Working at Baroque pitch (A=415), participants engage with repertoire from the 17th and 18th centuries through a practice that combines historical awareness with expressive freedom.

At the centre of the programme is expert mentorship, with coaching and guidance from leading period-instrument specialists, including members of L’Avventura London and invited guest artists. Through rehearsals, workshops, and performances, musicians develop technical confidence, stylistic understanding, and a deeper connection to the music they perform.

The LCBO is also committed to widening access to music-making across London. Through free and subsidised lessons, the programme supports children and young people, while instrument access schemes provide both historical and modern instruments to those who might otherwise be excluded.

Beyond the rehearsal space, the orchestra plays an active role in the community through concerts, participatory projects, and creative workshops, creating opportunities for shared musical experiences across diverse audiences.

For those wishing to pursue music further, the LCBO offers training pathways into higher music education and early-music practice, supporting the next generation of performers and scholars.

Rehearsals take place every Saturday from 10:30am to 12:30pm, and information about the next enrolment cycle will be available soon.

Bridging Music, Science, and Well-Being

L’Avventura London is also proud to collaborate with the Ozmo Institute for Neuroaesthetics, an international leader in research at the intersection of music, neuroscience, and human well-being.

This partnership brings together scientific insight and artistic practice, exploring how music influences cognition, creativity, and emotional resilience. Through performances, workshops, and interdisciplinary projects, we are redefining how music can educate, heal, and strengthen communities – connecting the artistry of the past with the innovation of the future.
