L’Avventura London, under the direction of conductor, music director, and early plucked-instrument specialist Žak Ozmo, reimagines the sound world of the 16th to 19th centuries, bringing it into dialogue with today’s audiences.
Founded in London, L’Avventura London is shaped by a city where music has long travelled—across borders, across traditions, and across time. Its stages have brought together performers and audiences from across the world, creating a vibrant meeting of styles, sounds, and stories. In this ever-changing landscape, earlier music was not preserved at a distance, but continually renewed in performance.
This approach shapes L’Avventura’s work. Rather than treating early music as something fixed or remote, the ensemble brings it to life as a living, breathing art—rich in colour, contrast, and imagination. Each programme invites audiences into a world where familiar works are heard anew, and long-silent music finds its voice once more.
Since its founding in 2010, L’Avventura has earned a reputation for distinctive performances, captivating audiences across the UK and internationally. The ensemble has appeared at leading UK festivals—including the York Early Music Festival, Lufthansa Festival of Baroque Music, Brighton Early Music Festival, and Cheltenham Music Festival—as well as at renowned international venues such as the Kölner Philharmonie (Cologne), Grande Auditório Calouste Gulbenkian (Lisbon), and The Queen’s Hall (Edinburgh).
L’Avventura’s reach extends beyond the concert hall. Its performances and recordings have been broadcast internationally on BBC Radio 3, NPR, CBC, ABC Classic FM, KulturRadio, MDR Figaro, ORF Radio Ö1, Radio Klara, Catalunya Radio, and Classic FM Russia, sharing its rich, expressive sound with audiences around the world. Critics have described the ensemble as “engaging, entertaining… an enormous amount of atmosphere and character” (Opera News), with Gramophone praising its “excellent musicianship” and “admirable understanding of Baroque performance conventions.”
Guided by Žak Ozmo’s research, many of L’Avventura’s programmes feature modern premieres of rediscovered works alongside fresh perspectives on well-known repertoire. Collaborations with artists such as Dame Emma Kirkby and Michael Chance further enrich the ensemble’s distinctive voice. Whether performing as an intimate chamber ensemble or full orchestra – and through recordings on Hyperion and Opella Nova Records – L’Avventura London continues to uncover music long hidden in archives and return it to the stage for today’s audiences.
